Staying Strong - Senior Fitness Classes
Senior Fitness with Marta - West Hertfordshire

Safe, friendly, effective weekly classes for seniors.

  • A mixture of seated and standing exercises with a chair support or without if you don’t need to use the chair. Chairs that we use are solid, stable and safe
  • Exercises that are accessible to everyone – whatever your ability, and anyone can do it
  • Exercises to music with a lovely group of people of a similar age and at a similar ability level
  • Each class is delivered face-to-face, not online, so you can interact directly with many other people who are in similar circumstances
  • Every session consists of an hour or an hour and 15 minutes

  • My exercise sessions are always selected carefully and delivered in a safe manner; however, they may not be suitable for everyone. If you haven’t done much physical activity for a while or have a medical condition or are recovering from injury you should consult your doctor or health professional to seek their advice and follow all health and safety instructions before beginning my exercise program
  • Don’t exercise if you are feeling unwell
  • Always wear loose comfortable clothing so you can exercise and move without any restrictions
  • Wear good safe footwear, ideally trainers or flat safe shoes and comfortable socks
  • A small bottle of water would be ideal or fruit juice
  • Light snack if you have diabetes for instance
  • It’s best not to eat anything for at least an hour before exercise
  • Have a healthy snack or meal and drink plenty of water after the exercise session
  • It is very common to experience delayed muscle soreness after exercising, which may last for a couple of days after the class. Do some light stretches and keep active to alleviate soreness
  • Listen to your body and be aware how your body feels
  • Respect your limitations and be kind to yourself, always
  • All of my group exercise classes are run in person at the moment
  • To accommodate everyone safely in the community halls, all classes need to be pre-booked on a ‘first come-first served’ basis
  • If you happen to miss a class that you have booked and pre-paid it for in advance, you can make up for it by attending another class within a two-week period in a different location, providing there is space available, hence please check it with me first if possible
  • Refunds are only available if classes are cancelled by me, unless exceptionally there is a long-term injury or a medical problem which stops you attending a pre booked block of classes. A doctor’s note is required in order for me to provide any refunds due to health-related reasons. In a case of class cancellation by me (e.g. due to last minute hall hire unavailability), relevant full refunds or credits will always be given
